Most of our Team USA athletes have arrived in Madesimo in time for dinner tonight at Hotel Emet. Some of the juniors going out for a run to get their land legs back after a long flight and then 2 hour bus ride from Milan. Weather is socked in, but not raining. Mountains aren't visible in the distance. This is a lovely little village...quiet and pleasant.

Arrived in Milan yesterday and rode by car with Brandy and Joe to the venue. Stopped in Chiavanna first at the tourist office. This is where the parade will be on Saturday night. It is a village about 10km from Campodolcino (50km from St. Moritz, Switzerland). Campodolcino is a lovely and quaint village of about 800 residents. Heading up the roadway (there is one really winding road -- old way to get up to Madesimo), and a newer roadway -- not as many switchbacks. There is much hydro electric power in the area with lots of water/waterfalls coming off the mountain. Madesimo is known for its winter activities -- ie: skiing. Motto, where the race course is located is about 2-3km from Madesimo. This is the end of the road -- doesn't go anywhere beyond here. One can hike further and probably make the Swiss border and beyond. Brandy and Joe ran the course today -- Joe also got on the course yesterday. Lots of climbing -- some gnarly footing in spots, single track...good downhills and incredible views if one stops to enjoy. The weather has been beautiful here -- cool temps in the morning and at night. Milan is super warm this time of year so a nice change to be in the "mountains." We await the arrival of the rest of the team tomorrow. It's about 2 hour drive from Milan to race site. The hotel for Team USA is perfect location. The village is cobblestoned streets in spots, beautiful gardens. Heading out for another run in Campodolcino before cooking dinner in tonight. Also have been working on much WMRA business. Jet lag not so bad...yet.
