The US Mountain Running Team is funded partially through USA Track and Field as well as through funds raised by various supporters. These additional supporters make it possible for us to provide the necessary travel funds to travel to the World Mountain Running Championships each year.
We wanted to highlight several of those key sponsors and thank them for their support:
acidotic RACING donates a portion of the profits from the Loon Mountain Race that takes place in Lincoln, NH every July. Close to $10,000 has been donated from the Loon Race to the USMRT. The Loon Race has served as a qualifying race for the US Mountain Running Team several times.
The race is directed by Chris Dunn, founder of acidotic RACING, and Paul Kirsch, the Juniors’ Team Manager for the Mountain Team.
Every Winter, the Vail Mountain Winter Uphill Race donates its profits to the Mountain Team. Over $10,000 has been donated from this race to the USMRT.
The Sponsors: Vail Resorts, Vail Athletic Club/Vail Vitality Center
The Volunteer Race Directors: Ellen Miller, Hooker Lowe, Jen Mason
The Jay and Lilly Johnson Foundation have been continuous donors to the mountain team over the past decade. Jay is a veteran of the team himself and remembers the struggles of early funding challenges. Their generosity has helped the team be able to support travel to many world championships.
