Hello Mountain Runners! This year’s national team selection will take place on Saturday June 13th at the Canadian Mountain Running Championships at the Canmore Nordic Centre. More race details coming soon. There will be prize money available for the top athletes who commit to the national team. You must be a member of your provincial Athletics Canada branch (OTFA, BC Athletics, etc) AND of the CTMRA to participate. We’re working on the membership program and it will be available soon.

Lance Armstrong to enter Pikes Peak Marathon

In a surprise announcement, Lance Armstrong has announced that he will add the Pikes Peak Marathon to his 2009 race schedule.
“Time for me to step up” he said, before a hastily gathered crowd of reporters. “The New York City Marathon is flat after all. Too easy. I need more of a challenge”. Vail Uphill Snowshoe Race – US Mt. Team Fundraiser

If you will be near Vail on Feb 21 2009, there will be a Snowshoe race to benefit the US Mountain Running Team. For more info, see the event flyer.
Not only is the race a benefit for the Mountain Team, it’s also run in memory of former team member Lyndon Ellefson, who died in 1998 during a hiking accident.
Eric Blake Mountain Running Interview

Mountain Team members compete at National Club XC Championships

Team member Simon Gutierrez was 1st overall in the Masters Race. Joe Gray was 13th in the Men’s Open Race. On the women’s side, 2008 and 2009 U.S. NACAC Team member, Kasie Enman, was 9th overall.
Other past and present mountain team members and staff competing included Nicole Hunt, Eric Blake, Lisa Goldsmith, Andy Ames and Nancy Hobbs.

Team USA Announced for the NACAC Mountain Running Championships

The U.S. will host the sixth North American Central American Caribbean (NACAC) Mountain Running Championship in North Conway, NH, on Sunday, June 28. This up/down two-lap course at Mount Cranmore includes approximately 2,400 feet of vertical gain over a 10 kilometer route and will act as a tune-up for NACAC teams in preparation for the World Mountain Running Championships to be held in Campodolcino, Italy, on September 6.
