Loon Mountain Race – Here’s the athlete profiles and bib numbers
Here’s a quick recap of all of the elite runners competing tomorrow at Loon Mountain. #501 Ashley Arnold (25, Carbondale, CO) is a trail and ultra runner with an impressive 3rd place finish at the 2010 edition of the grueling Leadville 100 Mile Ultramarathon. Ashley is a winner of multiple ultra marathons and most recently took third place at the Jemez Mountain 13 Mile race in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
#502 Morgan Arritola (26, Ketchum, ID) is an accomplished Nordic Skier who was a member of the 2010 US Olympic Team. She also is an accomplished runner who has been a 1/2 Marathon Trail Champ, XTERRA Trail Champ and multi-time winner of the Mt. Baldy race. She most recently won the Mont Ventoux Ascent in France where she set a new course record, a week after winning the Vail Pass Half Marathon.
#503 Myriah Blair (36, Eagle, CO) has competed in two USA Mountain Running Championships, most recently finishing 6th at last year’s Cranmore Hill Climb. Looking to make her first mountain team, Blair is a versatile runner who competes at a variety of trail and mountain distances as well as in snowshoe races, including a 7th place finish at the Snowshoe National Championships in 2011.
#504 Emily Chaney (30, Black Mountain, NC) s an accomplished road and trail runner, with PRs of 17:38 (5K) AND 36:48 (10K). She most recently set the course record at the 25k Frozen Sasquatch Trail Race in Morgantown, WV. Emily has also competed in several XTERRA Off-road triathlons where she qualified for the National Championship in Tahoe in 2008. Emily trains in the mountains of North Carolina and is looking to make her first mountain running team.
#505 Maria Dalzot (24, Morgantown, WV) is the defending NACAC Mountain Running Champions. She was a member of the 2007 Junior U.S. Mountain Running Team (USMRT) that took the silver medal at Worlds in Switzerland. Dalzot competed for the West Virginia University Cross Country team that won the Big East Championships in 2007 and placed top ten at NCAA Cross Country Nationals. She is currently a graduate student at West Virginia University. More recently, Dalzot won the 2011 NACAC Mountain Running Championships in Ajijic, Mexico, and finished second in the 2011 USA 10km Trail Running Championships in Laurel Springs, NC. Dalzot runs for Team Inov-8.
#506 Kim Dobson (28, Aurora, CO) a multi-time winner of Mt. Washington and Pikes Peak, is looking to build on her recent sub 1:10 finish at the USA Mountain Running Championships in Gorham, New Hampshire at the 2012 Mt. Washington Road Race. Dobson is a strong climber who will be looking to make her first Mountain Running Team in 2012. Kim also competed in the 2012 Olympic Marathon Trials in Houston, TX.
#507 Kasie Enman (32, Huntington, VT) is the current reigning World Mountain Running Champion, with her impressive win in Albania in 2011 as part of the US Team. Enman also won the US Mountain Running Championships at the Cranmore Hill Climb in 2011 and is the current course record holder at the Loon Mountain Race. Most recently, Enman finished third at the Mt. Washington Road Race. Enman was the top New Englander at the 2008 US Olympic Marathon trials in Boston and also competed in the 2012 Marathon Trials in Houston, TX.
#508 Brandy Erholtz (34, Evergreen, CO) is a four-time member of the U.S. Mountain Running Team and qualified for her most recent USMRT by placing third at the 2011 Mt. Cranmore Hillclimb in a photo finish. In 2011, Erholtz’s results included a third place at the Dolomite Sky-Race, fourth at the Grand Prix Harikiri Race, fourth at the Mt. Kinabalu Climbathon and first at the 2012 America’s Uphill – a winter snowshoe race in Aspen, CO. Erholtz was second at the 2012 Mt. Washington Road Race and is a two-time winner of that event.
#509 Melody Fairchild (38, Boulder, CO) will be competing in her first mountain team qualifier at Loon. Melody has had a storied career, from being the first high school girl in the US to break 10 minutes in the 2 Mile, to qualifying for the Olympic Trials in the 10k and marathon, a national champion in the 3000m and All American at U of Oregon in Track and XC. Most recently, she finished 2nd at the Teva Trail 10K and was also a 2010 winner of the Trans Rockies race.
#510 Laura Haefeli (44, Del Norte, CO) is the first American woman to win an individual medal at the World Mountain Running Championships (2007) and was a member of the 2004, 2005 teams and gold medal winning women’s team in 2007. She is also a former record holder of the Masters Record at the Mt. Washington Road Race. Haefeli finished in 3rd place in 2009 at Cranmore when it last served as the US Mountain Champs and most recently won the Teva 10k in Vail, CO and finished 3rd overall and first master at the Mt. Washington Road Race in June.
#511 Megan Kimmel (32, Silverton, CO) was a member of the 2009 US Mountain Running Team that competed in Italy. Megan is looking to return to Italy this September to again represent her country. An accomplished trail and mountain runner, most recently Megan finished 2nd at the USATF Half Marathon Trail Championships in Bend, Oregon. Megan’s impressive career includes a win at the Pikes Peak Ascent as well as a 3rd place finish in the Pikes Peak Marathon. Megan is currently in the top 5 in the LaSportiva Mountain Cup circuit, with impressive wins at the Jemez Mountain Trail Run (New Mexico) and the Don’t Fence Me In Trail Run (Montana).
#512 Stevie Kremer (28, Crested Butte, CO) competes as a Ski Mountaineer and as a trail and mountain runner. She was 3rd at the North American Ski Mountaineering Championship and is the course record holder at the Lead King Loop 25k trail race in Colorado. Most recently, Stevie set a new course record at the Mt. Evans Hillclimb race in Colorado, taking 4 minutes off the old course record. Stevie is looking to make her first mountain running team.
#513 Chris Lundy (41, Sausalito, CA) was the 2009 US Mountain Running Champion with her win at the Cranmore Hill Climb. Lundy is a four-time member of the mountain team, and was a member of both of the US Women Gold Medal Teams in 2006 and 2007. Lundy qualified for 3 Olympic Marathon Trials in 2004, 2008 and 2012, competing in them twice.
#514 Corrine Malcolm (22, Hayward, WI) is a member of the US Biathlon Team and lives in Lake Placid, New York where she trains for the team with lots of mountain running. With running a natural part of her biathlon training, and with a strong running background in high school, Corrine is looking to make her first mountain running team. Most recently Corrine set a new course record at the Jenkins Mountain Scramble 10K. Corrine was a member of the Junior US Biathlon Team and finished 6th place overall at the European Open Championships.
#515 Amber Moran (33, Asheville, NC) placed 7th at the USA Mountain Championships at Mt. Washington in 2010 and 5th in 2011 at the USA Mountain Championships at Mt. Cranmore. In 2009, she took fourth at the USA 10k Trail National Championships and finished third at the 2011 NACAC Mountain Running Championships in Ajijic, Mexico. Moran is a two-time winner of the challenging Shut-In Trail Race and The Bear Hill Climb in NC. She has a speedy mile personal best of 4:44. Moran works as a school nurse and runs for Team Inov-8.
#516 Michele Suszek, (30, Littleton, CO) made her first U.S. Mountain Running Team last year with a second-place finish at the USA Mountain Running Championships. Suszek finished 21st at the 2011 World Mountain Running Championships. More recently, she ran a 2:46:40 at the 2011 Omaha NE Marathon for the win and ran a 2:40:33 at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials in Houston – good for 43rd place. Suszek is the 2012 USA 50 Mile Trail National Champion having run a 7:25:41at the Nueces 50 mile in March.
#517 Jessica Snyder (27, Rochester, NY) had her first exposure to mountain running with her impressive sixth place finish at the 2012 Mount Washington Road Race. Jessica is looking to build on that success to make her first mountain running team at Loon. Jessica’s road PRs include a 5k time of 17:37, 1/2 marathon of 1:20:45 and marathon best of 2:52:43.
