Jared Scott & Rachael Cuellar win Vail Hill Climb

2011 US Mountain Running Team member Jared Scott took first at the Vail Hill Climb over the weekend.  He was followed by past team member Peter Maksimow in 2nd and 2011 team member Matt Byrne in third.  On the women’s side, past team member Rachael Cuellar took first, followed by former team member Megan Kimmel in second and Cynthia Arnold in third.

Kasie Enman continues her winning ways, knocking almost three minutes off her course record at the Loon Mountain Race

Fresh off her strong showing at the USA Mountain Running Championships last weekend, Kasie Enman (Huntington, VT) set a new course record at the Loon Mountain Race in Lincoln, NH today, finishing 5th overall in a time of 50:58.  Enman held the old course record of 53:17 which she set in 2009.

We will be making our decisions on Junior Team athletes by July 11th or 12th. If you know of a potential candidate for the team, please read all of the important information about the team here.  This is a tremendous opportunity for junior athletes to represent their country and race at an international level- invaluable experience for any high school or college athlete.

Congratulations to the 2011 US Mountain Running Team Members

At today’s Cranmore Hill Climb the team was decided with some hard fought battles for some of the spots on both the men’s and women’s team.  The team members are as follows:

Men (l-r): Max King, Jared Scott,  Ryan Woods, Matt Byrne, Tommy Manning

Women (l-r): Kasie Enman, Megan (Lund) Lizotte , Brandy Erholtz, Michele Suszek

The team will go on to compete in Tirana, Albania on September 11 in the World Mountain Running Championships

USA Junior Mountain Running Team 2011 – Call for Candidates

This year’s World Mountain Running Championships takes place on September 11th in Tirana, Albania.  The course for the Championships alternate between uphill only and up/down every other year.  In 2011 the course is an up/down course.   Here is a link to the Championship website: This year’s course is a pretty fast one for mountain running, with an elevation gain of approximately 280 meters per lap.   The junior girls run a single 4.49km lap, the junior boys run two laps for a total distance of 8.59 km.  Here is a link to the course profile:

Gates and Dobson Victorious at Mount Washington

Rickey Gates won the 51st Mount Washington Road Race in a time of1:01:32, beating Tommy Manning who finished second in a time of 1:01:42.  On the women’s side, Kim Dobson won in a time of 1:12:11, with second place going to Brandy Erholtz, in a time of 1:12:44.

Top Athletes Vie for Spots on US Mountain Running Team at this year’s Cranmore Hill Climb


North Conway, NH –  May 30, 2011:  For the second year in a row, the entire US Mountain Running Team will be selected at a single race, with this year’s team selection taking place at the 24th annual Cranmore Hill Climb at Cranmore Mountain Resort on Sunday June 26th at 9AM.  The race serves as the 2011 US Mountain Running Championships, with the top 6 men and top 4 women in the US Champs being selected to represent the US at the World Mountain Running Championships in Tirana, Albania on September 11th, More >
