2013 US Team Selection Criteria Published

Qualifying for the 2013 US Mountain Running Team

This year the USA Mountain Running Championships return to Cranmore Mountain Resort in North Conway, NH for the 26th Annual Cranmore Hill Climb on July 21st. The race will also serve as the NACAC Mountain Running Championships with team from the US, Canada and Mexico competing for the NACAC title for 2013.
This will serve as the sole qualifying race for the 2013 US Mountain Running Team that will compete in Krynica Zdrój, Poland on September 8th. The top 6 US Men (USATF Members and US Citizens) and top 4 women (USATF Members and US Citizens) at Cranmore will make the team. More >
USATF MUT Council Accepting Nominations for Runner of the Year

Each year the USATF Mountain Ultra Trail Council awards runner of the year awards in Mountain, Ultra and Trail Categories, both open and master. The following criteria should be used when nominating an athlete:
- Nominated athlete must show top results in U.S. mountain/ultra/trail competitions for 2012 (November 1, 2011 through October 1, 2012). For mountain and trail runners, this will include mountain races (these may be on paved/gravel surfaces as long as there is significant elevation loss or gain) and trail races of varying lengths below the ultra distance. Follow the US Mountain Running Team live online this coming Sunday (or Saturday night where you may live) by watching the live TV broadcast on Italian TV. Italy is 6 hours ahead of the East Coast, 9 Hours ahead of the West Coast.

We did our first ever team press conference today, with members of our Senior Men’s and Women’s Teams joining in, along with writer Jeff Dengate from Runner’s World. We had team members joining us from Germany as well as across the United States. Check out the video below. We’ll be having two more press conferences tomorrow, August 15th- 7:30 PM for our Junior Team and at 9PM for our Senior Team.

Stevie Kremer at the Loon Mountain Race in July
Stevie Kremer took little time to adjust to life in Europe with an impressive 2nd Place finish in the women’s race at the famed Sierre-Zinal race. On the men’s side, Joe Gray also finished in an impressive 7th overall.
Sierre-Zinal features a course of 31 km with 2200m ascent and 800m descent.

Here’s your chance to meet the members of the 2012 US Mountain Running Team as we pair up with writers from Youthrunner, Runners World and Trailrunner as they do live On-Air Interviews with our 2012 Team. They’ll be sharing their thoughts on the upcoming World Championships in Italy, what it means to them to be on the US Team, and insights into their training.
