David Roche and Megan Kimmel win USA 10k Trail Running Championships

The fourth annual Continental Divide Trail Race took place in Laurel Springs, NC, on Saturday, August 25th.   The course crosses over each side the Eastern Continental Divide twice.  Racers are test by a challenging course that former US Mountain Running Team member Megan Kimmel described as “true to the sport of trail running.”  This is no run in the park.  The terrain and footing vary frequently with climbs, descents, flats, grass, double track, and tight single track.  David Roche appreciated the sections of off-camber, rocky, and rooty trail racing; calling it a race of truth.  “How hard are you willing to go on the trails? Cause it is going to hurt.” The More >

2012 NACAC Mountain Running Championship Results

The 9th NACAC Mountain Running Championships was hosted at Cypress Mountain in West Vancouver, Canada, on a rain-soaked morning. While the weather forecast called for clearing skies, temperatures were in the upper 50s at the start with humidity at 94% amid cloud-filled overcast skies. The conditions at the finish line some 1100 meters up the mountain, were slightly cooler with rain showers filling puddles of water around the finish area, while mist rolled off the trees.

The 11 kilometer course included a variety of terrain from significant ascents to a few steep and technical descents, rocky hillsides with grades up to 40%, and some single More >

USA 10Km Trail National Championship – Press Release

The conditions for the USA 10 km Trail Championships on Saturday were humid, but the temperature topped out comfortably in the mid 70s. Post race comments varied as to each runner’s trail background. I liked Dave Dunham comments upon finishing,”That wasn’t bad, I was expecting some unrunable trails.” Most everyone agreed that the course was tough, but fun.  At least in the let’s go punish ourselves out on some beautiful mountain trails.

The men’s race started with some fog still hanging on the mountain top. Bobby Mack and Ryan Woods battled at the front, exchanging the lead a couple of times. More >
