Rickey Gates of Woody Creek, CO, a multi-time member of the US Mountain Running Team, set a new course record yesterday at the Canadian Death Race, finishing in a time of 12h:18:15.

Multi-time team member Simon Gutierrez joins multi-time and 2011 team member Brandy Erholtz in Mayrhofen, Austria this Sunday to participate in the SAAB Harakiri Mountain Run, a 10.4km race with 1170 meters of climbing. With a race that was modified due to excessive snow on portions of the original course, 2011 US Mountain Team member Brandy Erholtz (Evergreen, CO) finished 3rd place overall. Erholtz finished in 2:11:47, 5:24 behind winner Mireia Miro of Spain who won in 2:06:23. 2nd place finisher was Oihana Kortazar, also from Spain, who finished in a time of 2:10:58.

Athletes representing seven states comprise the 2011 U.S. Junior Mountain Running Team (www.usmrt.com). The team will accompany the senior team members as they compete at the 2011 World Mountain Running Championships in Tirana, Albania, on September 11. (http://www.wmrc2011.al)

2011 US Mountain Running Team member Jared Scott took first at the Vail Hill Climb over the weekend. He was followed by past team member Peter Maksimow in 2nd and 2011 team member Matt Byrne in third. On the women’s side, past team member Rachael Cuellar took first, followed by former team member Megan Kimmel in second and Cynthia Arnold in third.

Kasie Enman continues her winning ways, knocking almost three minutes off her course record at the Loon Mountain Race
Fresh off her strong showing at the USA Mountain Running Championships last weekend, Kasie Enman (Huntington, VT) set a new course record at the Loon Mountain Race in Lincoln, NH today, finishing 5th overall in a time of 50:58. Enman held the old course record of 53:17 which she set in 2009.

We will be making our decisions on Junior Team athletes by July 11th or 12th. If you know of a potential candidate for the team, please read all of the important information about the team here. This is a tremendous opportunity for junior athletes to represent their country and race at an international level- invaluable experience for any high school or college athlete.
At today’s Cranmore Hill Climb the team was decided with some hard fought battles for some of the spots on both the men’s and women’s team. The team members are as follows:
