World Champ Max King Pulls a Double This Weekend

Only a few weeks since he bested the World at the 2011 World Mountain Running Championships, Max King will attempt to win two races this weekend, one in his hometown of Bend, Oregon and one in Ogden, Utah.  The first is the USA 50km Trail Championships, which takes place at 8AM at Mt. Video from the World Mountain Running Championships

We’re in the process of putting together some video from the race but, in the meantime, check out this really great video from the Italian Team. If you go to the 4 minute mark or the 6 minute mark, you can see how insane some of the downhill was from the race.

Great article on Mountain Running in Trail Runner Magazine

Mountain running is still an obscure sport in some circles.  Sometimes it’s hard to describe exactly what a mountain race is like and how intense it can be.  In the latest issue of Trail Runner Magazine, Ashley Arnold does an amazing job of describing the experience, complete with amazing photos from Joe Viger and Scott Mason from this year’s USA Mountain Running Champs.  If you want to experience mountain running at its finest, pick up the latest issue of Trail Runner to read about our sport.

Tommy finished second this year at the Ascent, mirroring his second place finish at the Mt. Washington Road Race.  His time this year at both races were personal bests, good signs as Tommy heads to Albania in a few weeks.

Here is Tommy’s Race Report from the Ascent:

From the gun I pretty quickly put myself into fourth place behind Mario Macias, Josh Eberly, and Simon Gutierrez.   The race did not go out as fast this year as last year’s international field (the World Mountain Running Long Distance Challenge) took it out.  By the More >
